RC Kampala East Installs New President — A New Era of Business-Driven Rotary Service

The Rotary Club of Kampala East has officially installed Assoc. Prof. Rachel Mindra Katoroogo as its new president for the 2026–2027 Rotary Year, in a ceremony that doubled as the club’s Charter Night celebration — an evening honoring the journey of the club and the founding members whose vision laid its foundation.

Prof. Katoroogo, a seasoned academic and development professional at Makerere University Business School, steps into the role with a clear agenda: Seeds of Hope — a leadership vision centered on strategic partnerships, innovation, and sustainable social investment across livelihoods, education, health, and the environment.

What sets this transition apart is the shift from charity to sustainability. Under her leadership, community programs are expected to double as economic engines, helping communities move from subsistence into the formal economy. She brings to the role a track record of over 15 major research and development projects across Uganda and several African nations, and board-level experience including chairing the equities committee at Uganda Development Bank.

The evening was also a moment of reflection — honoring charter members and the milestones the club has built over the years.
